Dallas

Postby Ian clampin » Wed Sep 04, 2013 5:42 pm

I was just wondering if anyone is going to the TSGA Jamboree next year, I have not been before and was surprised how much the flights are. :o The boss has suggested that if we go we should make a holiday of it, but apparently the weather in Texas at that time of year can be cold.
I' thinking perhaps a week in the Dallas area, enjoy the jamboree then maybe an internal flight to somewhere for a little sun. I would appreciate any advice from anyone that may have done this themselves, plus any suggestions regarding flights.

Thanks

Ian

Ian
Although I was not at Dallas this year I have attended the previous nine in a row.
On two of these occasions We tagged on for an extra ten days or so. One of the times We flew to Nashville and the other time We rented a car and had a few days in San Antonio and also some time in Austin.
During our stay at Dallas (it is actually Irving where the jamboree is held) We visited Deely Plaza in Dallas which is about a forty minute drive from Irving, nice place to visit,We also headed in the opposite direction to Fort Worth and the Stockyard area which is well worth a visit. The weather was not bad at all, actually I can only remember one time when it was "cold" Whilst Nashville was a must see (for Me) I have to say that San Antonio was really good,it is about a five hour drive from Dallas and being more southerly the weather was very nice indeed,We managed to visit Lukenbach too on the way back to Dallas for our return flight.
Hope this helps.

Hi Billy,

Thanks for the info, Nashville is on my list of places to see also, It's good to know the weather is ok at that time of year. I will look into San Antonio as I don't much about it.
Regards
Ian

You could try Austin, it has the reputation of music capital of Texas, also believe that the South by Southwest Music Festival is on in Austin the week after Dallas. You will enjoy the Dallas show if you decide to go.Was in Dallas last week to pick up my Millenium from MSA , weather was 38/40c , brilliant.
MSA Millennium SD1O, GK MB200,Sica 12 and Telonics 15 speakers , Joyo American Sound pre amp, Jay Ganz Straight Ahead 500w class D Amp, Hilton pedal, Peterson tuners,Digitech RP150,Scott Dixon seat/ flight case.
