Using a Digital Video Recorder

I have been doing some videos with a camera my wife got me at Christmas, I am not getting the sound quality I hear on some of the videos posted here, more so the ones that look as if they have just been done with the camera. I would like to put some recordings on here but not at the quality I'm getting at the moment, HELP!!!

i use my pc or macbook pro to make vids Donny
an outboard camera Logitec webccam 250 does fine for me ( not the cheapest, nor the most expensive model, but rather a middle of the road model)
it has an microphone included & the software permits one to set levels
i could be wrong, but i would'nt be surprised, if many vids were done using the computer & a webcam
