Signal routing through FX pedals

Hi Guys, I have a series of three FX pedals that I am chaining between my Carter S10 and the Mackie desk in my tiny project studio. They are a Boss GE7 Equaliser, a Behringer digital delay and a Behringer reverb. I am currently routing from the guitar to the eq - eq to Goodrich foot pedal input - Goodrich f/p output to delay - delay to reverb - reverb to desk. Can anyone tell me if this is the best way to do it or could it be done a better way?

Alan, dont know what mackie mixer you are using, but if it has an efx send and return, just experiment with it, i would try putting the delay and reverb into it, switch them around, and just trust your ears, try eq either side of your volume pedal between guitar and mixer, its good to experiment, my mackie dfx12 mixer has a pretty useful graphic equaliser and very good reverb, channel eq is not great though, and i dont like the delay on it though, would always use outboard delay, just remember 'less is more' , i heard a lovely guitar tone today, and i really had to listen hard to hear the slightest delay, but it was there, good luck, eddie

Alan, I've recently wriiten an ariticle for the BSS Newsletter that explains some of the issues regarding effects pedals and adding them in your signal chain. The Steel Mixer helps to address some of the issues. I'm not sure when the newsletter is due to be sent out, I don't think it will be too long.

And Hi to Eddie. Thanks for you suggestions. I have started playing around with sends and returns and I've been studying my Mackie manual and have discovered a lot of stuff I don't understand so I'll have to do some research and study on this FX issue. Things were so much simpler when I was playing lead guitar and all I had was a compressor/sustain pedal.
