Hi Richard.
I've got on well with audacity and have laid down an instrumental and tried to mp3 it but I needed to use lame etc, so I downloaded it but can't tie it in with audacity, so I saved the instrumental in wav format but can't post it for whatever reason. I suppose the forum doesn't accept wav. Any help would be appreciated chaps.

Barry, the forum doesn't accept the uploading of ANY audio files, they have to be "Hosted" elsewhere, see :-

Thanks for replying.
I can't even format my file into mp3 format, I don't know how to....only wav. Audacity doesn't support MP3, somehow I have to use a Lame donkey programme to change it....... .........Yes I know, I'm a tit. Can I download the wav file ?
Alas Your link, I'm afraid , is totaly lost on my feeble non tech mind. I haven't a clue what you mean. What, who and where is this host ? what is a url ?, where do I get this mysterious algebraic formula to stick between the brackets ?????????????????????????? and anyway if can't convert it to mp3 what then do I do..................... Give me an 8 track tape machine and an analogue 32 channel desk and real outboard effects and comps etc and I'm a happy bunny. I'm lost with pc ether fairyland and non existing recording facilities.......I am trying to learn but it's difficult for an old analogue arse.
Any help would be much appreciated

You CAN'T possibly download ANY file to anywhere except your own computer, UPLOAD is what you mean, but you CAN'T upload any audio file to the forum.. It MUST be HOSTED elsewhere, and NOT on your computer. You have to upload the file to a hosting service, Or if you don't know what that is search google for "free hosting" it's all there to read.

Barry, I can host the file for you all you need to do is e-mail it to me, but be aware that you can't possibly e-mail a file any larger than 10mb, and a WAV file of 4 mins will be MILES too large that's why mp3 is used.

You MUST convert the file to mp3 to have it hosted ANYWHERE.
So step 1 should be for you to find out how to convert a wav file to mp3. I don't know as I'm Macintosh based, but surely anyone here that's Pee Cee based can let you know what application can be used to convert your audio. I think that if you download iTunes (It's free) then you can use it to synchronise all your peripherals like mp3 player, iPod, and your 'phone. iTunes also will regularise your sound library on your computer...AND here's the important bit, you can import files into iTunes and convert them to mp3 format.

I will host audio files for any member of the forum, and many can tell you, I do so regularly. My pleasure to do so, but YOU must put the files into the format that everyone uses first.

I've just typed in 'wav to mp3 converter' into google, and got loads of pages.
This one looks to be ok.

It is easiest when using these converters (for people who are not very familiar with computers) to 'drag and drop' the file into it, rather than browsing your computer for the wav file.

Make sure you know where the converted file is going to on your computer, they usually go back into the folder that contains the original wav file.
