Richard Nelson .... The King of Pedal Steel Guitar in Ireland. Jazz at its very best .... and he can play Country like Doug Jernigan.

I go along with Bob and Ted's comments ,I have all of Richards albums and this is his best to date. Great stuff Richard.

Love it.
The harmony between Lap Steel and Jazz Guitar is great, The rest of the band are very tight and at just the right level. I'd love to be able to emulate that playing, but I think 6 numbers is more likely!

Just been listening to Richard's album on Spotify. It's as good as many of the better USA players have put out. Technically I would say that Richard is up there with Pete Haywood as the best C6 pedal steel players in Europe. It's an example of someone taking their own musical route and not following the mainstream. I take my hat off to him.

Thanks Ken, I have mostly followed the jazz education route rather than copy other steel players, although I’ve done that too, mostly Jernigan and Emmons. My aim, if you could call it that, is to see the PSG recognised as a standard jazz instrument. It should be an instrument that isn’t pigeon-holed and restrained by any one genre of music. B J Cole has done his bit in this as should all players. Remember the PSG has its origins in Hawaii and was prominent in many swing bands in the 30s and 40s. This was the popular music of the day. Hopefully it will return into popular music. I hear some fresh sounds coming from young players in the USA and I’m encouraged by this.
