KEN KEN oh Deary me.. haven't you read what I said to that new member ?
Even my Doctor and proctologist call me Basil, not withstanding my bank manager, the only one to call me Mr. Henriques, would be someone I have yet to become acquainted with.

Joerg, don't even think of asking what a "proctologist" is..

And surely you will see me again soon Dave, Bob and I were there a couple of weeks ago ? (HUNTINGDON HALL

Ken I could confuse our TransAtlantic and European friends by lovingly calling any antagonist or adversary a proper "Bar Steward" or "Three Cornered Hat" ... Did you know that "Proper Berk" originated in Cockney Rhyming Slang, as "Berkshire Hunt"... now there's a good obtuse one.

JD has some he's made up himself. Unfortunately translation of such requires intimate knowledge of said composer, I don't have that... just casual peripheral acquaintanceship..

I've noticed a few colloquials slipping in hither and thither by the more loquacious of the forumites, there is a particular nice Scots one :- "Fud"

Some of our "Two nations divided by a common language" friends would get somewhat kerfuffled at our colloquial swearwords, most British swear-words have a history longer than that of the United States itself..

Yesterday was good....Thanks all for the kindness..and please ignore my "Vice Versa" remark.. I don't like my Vice Versa..

Basil - I can't think of anything that rhymes with Berkshire Hunt, so I will pass on that one.

Actually, Mr Henriques has a nice ring to it. Far nicer than Mr Byng!! That's what some of my staff call me, despite me saying "Just call me Ken".

OK Ken..
As for the "Unknown" Rhyming slang, the word ALMOST appears in this well known joke about a man on a train doing a crossword puzzle , almost finished but having a problem with one word not fitting. He asks the priest sitting opposite for help, OK says the priest.. "What's the clue ?"... the perplexed individual replies, "A four letter word appertaining to woman ending in U-N-T, "ah ha" says the priest "AUNT".... "oops" says the man taking out his eraser !!
