don't think I want to try it again.Thinking it would be a nice little exercise I sat down ready to do my little bit, but it was finding where to put in that little bit's.
Except for a couple of tracks of standard country the rest were either raw folk or country played in the folk style.
It aint easy being wedged in a corner next to the drummer, and not able to hear the Base or Lead guitar, and the vocalist being very low in volume, bless her, the folk guitarist finger pickin away, good picking mind, and the monitors 2 yards in front of the stage, and also being in a Gazebo all added up to, what am I doing here, as I felt they did'nt rearly need me.
A guy said he could'nt hear me,I told him, thats because I was frightened to play in case I drownded everyone else out, so in the next set they turned up, but I wish they had'nt because now it became a fight for survival.
The lead guitarist was a new guy to the outfit, as was I, and thou played well, he put raw country licks into each folk song, and it did'nt work too well.
But the biggest mistake I made, and we all make just one in our playing life is, I did'nt ask how much the gig was worth, and nobody bothered to tell me, but being a silly old fart, I did the gig, 60 mile round trip,and on packing away had the akward
situation of having to ask how much are we getting, only to be told,"Oh, this is a freeby for the pub" 
but the gent did give me £20 for the fule, so I pottered off home with my tail between my leg's, thinking, 50 years on the road and you havent learned yet, what a plonker 
but the icing on the cake is when I got home and tried to convince her indoors that I never got paid, she just stood there and laughted 
and said word's I wont repeat.Mind you, I'm not put off with playing with a folk groop, but it needs a different approach, and a lot more practice, so be warned if a folk gig come's your way, think hard about it.
