Went to see Gerry play with Albert at Renfrew Ferry last night, was there with Willie Gamble and met Marc Daniels, unfortunately no other steelers were there to give Gerry support. What a shame that when we get a player of Gerry's class, something that doesn't happen up here very often, we can't get the troops out to give support. It was a great show as usual, a really tight band.

I spoke to Barbara last week and she told me Gerry was playing in Scotland, I really wanted to go but finished up having to work late. But it is a pity that more steelers don't show up. I feel that way about the Irish Steel Festival where the Scottish contingent has completely disappeared, WHY? I don't know, the committee over there put there heart, soul, and wallet into it, and the troops should give it more support. How about more Scottish steelies playing, would that help raise the numbers?

Had i known i would have gone along - what a shame - perhaps someone could have given a heads up in the 'who's playing where' section. Hopefully he'll be back....

Donny, I am one of the steelers who no longer go to Ireland, reason being it coincides with the school holidays and as wife is a teacher we tend to go away on holiday then, another slightly less important reason is that over the past years when I did manage to go, the cost has risen quite a bit, and with Ryanair p*****g about with the flight times it has meant having to leave early to get flight home. From a personal point of view I prefer to put my cash away and go to Dallas for not that much more than it costs for Ireland.I do understand the guys work hard to put Ireland on and wish them every sucsess with it, if my circumstances change I would go back.
