The Band, and Levon Helm, are not really associated with steel guitar music, but the Band took me from English 'pop' music into something much more fulfilling, and, indirectly to pedal steel through listening to Dylan, and on through to American music.
I suspect for those of us 'of an age' the obituaries on seminal musicians are going to start coming thick and fast.

Seems like every time I log in there is more bad news.I agree with everything you said Nick.He was truly a fantastic musician with the voice of an angel.
