Most guitar players of a certain age will have to own up to at least reading a copy of PIAD, if not owning one. That book made Bert's fortune and he lived comfortably from it for much of his life. He did a fair amount of broadcasting in the 60's, and was a household name. John Edmed from Sho~Bud London told me that Bert used to regularly come into his shop looking at the vintage guitars. From all accounts Bert used wear a lot of gold and had a gold Roller too. The guitar moved on immensely from the first edition of Bert's book, but it still kick started many a career. I still have a later edition, having given the first edition to one of my pupils years ago.
RIP Bert - you were a star.
