I’m heartbroken to report we lost two of our nonagenarian Country Music legends last night. Rest In Peace to the great Freddie Hart (most famous for “Easy Loving” in 1972, although he had been cutting records since 1952), and also the great Herb Remington, steel guitarist for Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys. I interviewed both men, and got to play with Herb twice ten years ago. Sad to lose our heroes.

Very sad indeed, Freddie Hart was indeed a real country legend that most of our age group who were into real country would have listened too.
Herb was also one of the legends of the steel guitar. I can remember having the pleasure to chat with him when he appeared at Gerry's first Newbury festivals. RIP gentlemen you will always be remembered.

I also met Herb and what a gentleman and so approachable. There’s was nothing about him that suggested he was “ I’m a superstar...” . I can honestly say that Herb and Maurice Anderson shared a similar quality of not only having a great talent but would willingly share their knowledge in the most down to earth way and treated you as an equal human being. There can’t be many true legends of this quality left now.
