Good news from Telonics

OK - I've just recorded my amp a cappella - just my Show Pro on C6 and the Telonics amp & volume pedal. A touch of reverb and a little pitch shift mode on my G-Force.

Thanks for the feedback Malcolm. I used a tiny smidgen of the harmoniser/pitch shift because my friend Dave Wheelhouse loves the sound that it gives, but I know it's not everyone's taste especially the purists. I am working up a faster country number on E9 for my album, so I might put that up next. Re an A/B comparison with the Telonics & Webb - that is an interesting thought. Before I heard the Telonics amp at Dallas this year, I was completely of the mind that there was no combo amp out there that could match the Webb, and I still think I was right at the time. Big lows and chimey top end with a much reduced mid range which is the sound I favour. However, things move on and the Telonics is different to the Webb, and certainly gives a more modern tone. The basic Webb design and circuitry is 40 years old after all.

I am going to take the Black Widow out of my Webb and replace it with a spare 15" Telonics speaker that I have. That would give both amps a level playing field in a shootout. The actual cabinet construction of the Telonics amp is incredible, using the lightest Scandinavian birch ply that Dave Beaty could lay his hands on. The joints are cut with a CNC cutting machine for a 100% perfect fit.

All I can say is that I am loving the new TCA-500, and have the comfort blanket that Dave Beaty listens to the feedback from all of his customers and always makes sure that we are 100% happy.
