I may have to absent myself completely and get back to my playing.
If only I could be reinstated to the old site so I could download all the data and reformat it..

Inaccurate Basil (as you and I have since discussed, the absolute contrary) but I am no longer going down that road, let's put the damn thing to bed ... Ken that would have been great but ....1, this software does not allow porting the info across from the Yabb platform, perhaps it could have been done in other ways but not without much work and time or going to paid forum platforms eg. V bullletin. .... 2, At this point I don't believe Sean is up for it, The old site could be locked to read only and the domain name piggy backed to this one which would mean every one typing in the BSS .com (old site) would come straight here and all info on the old site would remain to view as was. That solution is not however in my hands. Roy has communicated with Sean but as yet the matter is not quite resolved.

I don't want to beat you over the head with this after you have done such sterling work in setting up the new site. In answer to your point 1, it would be far from impossible to migrate some of the old material over to this site. Just time consuming. Basil has said that he has both the time and inclination. It would just be a case for Sean to make the old site open for a day to allow Basil to do his stuff, and then close it and make it read-only.

It'd be far easier (and quicker) if I could get a database backup from the old site. I could then have a go at re-creating it here as a read-only archive. Bob - feel free to give Sean (at the old site) my email address, I can provide FTP details for him to upload a backup if he's willing to provide this.

Having just read some more of the above, is it not possible we could have some of the postings on the previous site pasted in an archive on here especially some of the Gordon Huntley stuff should be available to all on the BSS and some of the major tuition stuff that B.H has given us in the past can we afford to lose these valuable contributions? after all its part of what we are all about is`ent it?? helping each other and the newbies, surely we should not waste this valuable resource???? if its just a cut and paste job without importing Gremlins I am sure someone would volunteer........

John I did, and if you look at the number of posts I've made here it'll give you some idea of the time I have to spend on the computer.. at least 12-18 hours EACH AND EVERY DAY..
I REALLY need to be re-instated on the OLD site so I can download ALL of it.. It's no problem for me to do, except I've no access as I'm an "Ex Member" again.

Alternatively, if you can't get re-instated, some kind person who still has access can share their login details with you

If you ever do get a chance to do this, the only problem I foresee is that all posts here will be as the same user. To avoid confusion I'd suggest creating a username of "BSS Archive" here, and starting each post with "Originally posted by xxxxxxx" before pasting the post contents....

It's far from a perfect solution, but in the absence of a full database backup....
