APOLOGIES

Sat Mar 08, 2014 5:53 pm

Bob, I am somewhat surprised that you decided to take my "Silly Ad" off the forum. Surely it hasn't got to the point now where we are not allowed to have a laugh and a joke. My wife is not into steel guitar but even she thought it was funny. So, I can only assume someone thought it was offensive and the only reason for that is a guilty conscience. My apologies to anyone I may have offended and I promise I shall never advertise again. Dave.

It wasn't removed, just moved to the Steel Guitar Café as it wasn't a genuine "for sale" post, which is what the For Sale forum is for (until items are sold, when they are moved to the "Archive").

Dave, Neither offense, conscience, guilty or otherwise came into this equation. I wasn’t even in town.

There are only three button pushers here as you probably know, the Mild mannered Uncle Roy, Marc and myself.

Roy has much to do with the newsletter (received today, thank you Mr H, super stuff) and as such rarely gets into the mud, blood and the beer, day to day on the forum.

As for Me! .... Basil once said I must have scelfs on my a**e from sitting on the fence!...Well Baz, call it mediation! Somebody has to do it!

As for Marc... This is best asset you guys will 'ever have' so long as there is a BSS forum! Seriously!

For someone who has until recent times had no interest in things PSG and is busy beyond your comprehension in his 'day job,' to take the time he does to watch over us all is uncanny! Marc is the most level headed fellow you could meet and usually only gets frustrated when some 'successfully' over use the 'For Sale' section without contribution to the site, I do understand that as some take the piss and we have bills to pay, the site doesn't run itself! As for Marc, I would trust him with my life! That was with an L not a W. ....

Jest apart.. support him.. he supports you! Unpaid! Would you????

Truth is I wish sometimes we could all get together for a natter, then y'all would probably realise we are all singing from the same hymn sheet!

Back to this Post Dave...Marc is right ‘For Sale' needs to be actual or the section becomes ‘untidy.’

Deleting a post or user is an extreme action and only happens when something is really undesirable, I did it recently as you know, but don’t remember ever doing so before other than for the Viagra sellers who plagued us for a while.

Posts from you and all our ‘own guys’ are the forums life blood without which there would be no forum.

As for your overall view on pricing, I and numbers of others totally share your frustrations, I have never overpriced an instrument but by the same token I won’t give one away as generally it has cost me too much in the first place.

For the record I get numerous messages to my own site asking advice on buying steels and SH prices.

When guys say, what should I pay for a Pro Spec S/H PSG? …This is my standard guide:

S10 £800-£1200
SD10 £1100 - £1900
D10 £1800 - £2500/3000+

All variances dependent on make/model and condition, I think (hope) this has been good guidance but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

An aside!

I did a Car boot sale! 'Only Once!'............I went back home with most of it intact as the sods wanted everything for a £1…the rascals!..... One cheeky woman nearly got my daughter’s immaculate little first Raleigh bike rapped right round her neck!....I seem to recall .. off! ... was the second word! ......... Never again!!

Think I've said enough now!
