My Scottish counterparts are perhaps causing a little stir here with 'colloquial banter' and whilst the clue is in the title as stated we all seem compelled to read the post.

Why?

Could it be the simple lack of other posts, apart form those looking for an alternative to ebay! Which dominates from time to time!

We have the age old story here, too little from too few! Especially in the way of informative or technical posts. (regular posters disregard!)

The Scottish Meeting was born from a remark that we had all played in similar circuits in the past and never got together as steel colleagues, from that thought and a subsequent meeting we now have a number of guys who have joined in as they have had a desire for PSG but felt there was no where to go in regards to teaching or even just general observation of steel playing. This has been done in the south in recent years via JD’s meeting and indeed Roy’s over the years, but this is a first in Scotland.

There is no North South! (east or west) divide! On the contrary we would be more than delighted to receive anybody from other parts as indeed we have been received at previous meetings in the South or Ireland, yes there is a cost in getting to the meetings but that applies no matter their location and the roads that go down also come up!!

The biggest plus to the SSGW is that 'Steel Scotland' has gone form something of an in entity for years into a steel guitar presence ‘at last’
(albeit there are more that should be joining in, (Mr Murdoch, McKillop, Thompson etc etc.) but it’s early days.

It could be argued that our chit-chat could move to the ‘steel guitar café’ but at least clicks are kept going on here when there is the square root of sod all else happening.

At the next meeting which is Tuesday evening, we will have a chat about how we communicate ‘pre and post’ meeting regarding chat and the forum.
However the essence of all of this it is that guys are enjoying and learning the instrument and getting more out it than they ever have before….

This is surely the essence of this forum which is only lacking the enthusiasm that currently exists ‘north of the border. So get posting guys!

I have to add my bit as well. A little banter on threads cannot do any harm,we live in a crappy world lately which needs to lighted up so with some merriment. I must agree with a comment made on that dreaded thread (LOL) If you don't like the thread there are many more here to view.
Come on guys we keep asking lets have more posts from you. The questions, the news all that put it on here that's why we are bothering to run a site. you heard it before so here it again. USE IT OR LOSE IT!

I have to agree with my 2 eloquent friends, there is a buzz here at the moment because everyone is enjoying the evening. We always said the SSGW would evolve, as the initial adrenalin rush lowers, but it is a big kick for a lot of the guys who come along, to actually play in front of someone. If you read my latest post, I have a programme layed out for the 26th. We always said we would try and make tuition a bigger part of the evening and this is the start. It is not written in stone and will always be seen as a work in progress. I do read all the posts on this site, sometimes I do not reply as I feel it's not for me. We need more people to get involved in posting there thoughts on here, it doesn't mean everyone will agree with you, but that's what a forum is for. I do think we should keep our posts on the SSGW thread because, it will be different for each month, and as the present Feb thread is now at 10 pages it would completely dominate the Steel Guitar Cafe and other contributers would have to trawl through our discussions.
