Lightweight PSG and drawbacks?

Tue Oct 14, 2025 6:36 pm

Hi all. I hope this finds you all well.

I love my steel, it is a wonderful thing and has fantastic tone... It's a Sheffield SD10.

My only quibble, and it's certainly not a fault, is it's very heavy. I've lightened the load by buying a keyboard bag for the legs, pedals etc that lightens the load a little. I'm exploring getting an S10 steel that is lighter. Any advice or recommendations? I'm guessing the drawbacks might be tone and stability, but to have a steel that is more portable for a quick gig would be really useful for me in addition to the Sheffield PSG which I adore.

My best

Dave

Perhaps You could consider a wheeled case.

Thanks so much Derek and Billy.

That keyboard case looks perfect. Billy I have a wheeled case. It's great but those stairs... Haha... To be honest I probably need to join a gym.

Thanks so much for your help gentlemen and go well!

Dave

Might want to check out MSA S10 legends, fairly light, very stable, fantastic tone top of range quality, there is however a fairly long build time, unless you can pick up a used one. Speak to Kyle at MSA. Other alternative is a used (out of production): carbon body MSA Millennium S10 or SD10,. I play a SD10 Milly, great guitars.
