Hilton Volume Pedal

On the lookout for a second hand Hilton volume pedal, unfortunately a new one is a bit out of my budget at the moment.

I've been using the Ernie Ball VP Jr for about a year have managed to snap the string twice (both at gigs!).
Definitely time to take it up a gear.

Joe, if you go into a builders merchant and ask for some bricklayers line, you will get enough line to keep your Ernie Ball pedal going for about 100 years, and all for a couple of bob.
I much prefer pot pedals, I don't know why but I do
I have an old Fender pedal which I played for approximately 33 years and it has only ever had 2 pots, all be it they were the old Allen Bradley 500K pots.
Far too many players block with their pedal and some think they are playing a harmonium, when you see their pedal going up and down like a fiddlers elbow.

Joe, while I am on the subject, when next you do replace the string on your pedal incorporate a small spring to take up the slack and lessen the shock on the string.
On the old Fender pedal I mentioned in my last post, I have never had to replace the string

I guess the answer is to accumulate more than one VP, then you can swap over, even at a gig. Check out any old(ish) pot pedal that might come up not just Fender. I have an ancient Roland pedal - big footprint, low to the floor and works by a lever and connecting bar, not a string.
Some brands even used a rack and pinion; I wonder if a "string" pedal can be modded to use a solid linkage?

The Stage one pedal being Built by Doug Ernest gets a good name, it is rack and pinion,and sells around $99.Personally I prefer my Hilton, no pots to contend with, worth the extra money initially.
