Derek, I fitted PF1 to my old ShoBud but did not like it, a bit dark, went for E 66, which sounded a lot better. However know of a few people who fitted it on different guitars and did like it.I liked the George L TW ones Ted fitted on my old Mullen.Think it could be a case of fitting and trying to see what it sounds like.

I have had 10-1s on both Mullens and Carter and happy with the tone. Not convinced with the Lawrence fitted to the Sheffield

Listened to it on S&R show, it sounded pretty good to me, quite "american sounding" , but if not completely happy then you are probably right to try something else.I like the Alumitone I have, sounds very like a Truetone, but with added advantage of not picking up noise or interference from stage or strip lights you can sometimes get with single coil.
