I'm after either a Ernie Ball VPJR or a GOODRICH MODEL L10K or similar.

I could buy new off ebay and have it shipped from the USA but that would take some time, anyone in UK supply me with a new one for same price?

The L10K is an active pedal costing $299.00 + shipping in the U.S. + import duty so a Hilton would be an alternative.

I don't think the Ernie ball is up to it as the the jack sockets are all on the front although I suppose you could get away with using right angle jack plugs. Nice price though. May be others could shed more light on how good it is.

Thanks for the info. I've had a look at both and still deciding. I saw Maggie Bjorklund using the ernie ball with her sho bud and I thought I'd just get the same. It's quite small and that would suit me...

One thing is the difference between the active and passive... What's the actual difference?

Davie, the passive pedal "loads" the pickup, and the effect is worse for low volume levels, and higher pitch notes & harmonics. An active pedal has electronic devices in it, which take the clean signal from the pickup and "buffer" it so that the signal has a chance of getting to the amp unchanged by the loading effect of a passive pedal. The effects of crap audio cables are somewhat reduced as well. I did an article on this in the BSS newsletter a while back, I don't know if Uncle Roy can rustle up a copy for you. To understand fully how it works you need to be able to do a bit of "high school" maths. The good passive pedals are ok, but don't use one with a pot less than 500k ohms. I took the plunge to get an active pedal, and I'm so pleased I did.

Davie, could be wrong but I believe The Ernie Ball might have a 250 pot, so would probably need changing to a 500, also remember the problems of getting a reliable pot these days,as a lot last no time and are not cheap.Best thing I personally did was get a Hilton.Check with Gerry, he has them in stock.
Davie, if going for pot pedal, check out new stage one pedal on American Forum $99, far better than Ernie Ball I would think, as Doug Earnest builds great guitars.Gerry is a Zum Stage One Retailer he might be able to order one for you.
