Resaphonic strings 16s & mic options for a Tom Morici dobro

Hi all

Looking for some resophonic strings 16 gauge, would like a different make to martin strings, they have no real life span!

Also using a condenser mic with a H clamp (can't bring myself to drill into my baby - Tom Morici square neck maple dobro) my mic is a bit cumbersome & going traveling for a while, just wondered if anyone could recommend a decent mic?

Also losing signal going through a VP & reverb pedal. Will a DI box sort this out?

Any info welcomed & appreciated!

Best

Neil

Can anyone comment on sit strings? Are they better than martins?

Never tried SIT strings on resonator, currently trying GHS Sheerhorn Cryogenic. I'm not finding them very bright. I think I will return to using D'Addario coated EXP42.

Neil,
PM me your address and I will get Becky to send you a complimentry set of S.I.T. for your Dobro... I still say if they are good enough for Emmons....... We should all be happy with`em ??
There are lots on here that buy their strings from Bec and get excellant service... but they are being very quiet at the moment :? ;)

To my mind, some people want to over complicate things. In my Newbie world, the measure of strings is - do they sound balanced; do they stay in tune; and do they give an acceptable life cycle. Coupled to the cost and the service from Beccy' I side with John and say "Give em a try" especially at the proposed introductory cost.

I feel a little dissapointed that a few more did not chip in with a response about Becky`s string service, it looked from this that Harry and I are her only customers! This is not the case..... I guess most of the pro`s that buy their strings from her do not post on here  , I know my strings would be a lot harder to get and cost a lot more if she ever packs it in!!

Neil, get some SIT's off JD, i use em on the steel and they're great. I imagine the dobro ones will be proper. Get a set of E9's for the steel while you're at it
