Accessories Pouch / ideas

Postby Brettus Maximus » Tue May 07, 2013 2:33 pm

Hey guys and gals,

I'm looking to find out if there's such a thing as an accessories pouch for steel guitarists.
I like to keep my bar on hand because I have instruments dotted around and often just pick one up and play when the mood strikes.
I use a Dunlop 925 Ergotone Bar and 3 propiks.
Ideally, I'm looking for something padded which is easily rolled up to fit in a pocket, but big enough to fit all these bits in.

Does such a thing exist- if so, where can I find them?
Will I have to come up with a design and make one myself instead?
If I did design and make one, is it the sort of thing other players might like to have, or am I unusual in wanting to carry heavy, bulky things like this around with me at all times?!

Thanks in advance for any comments,
Brett.

I've used a variety of phone cases, small camera bags, purses etc in the past (multi-pocket purses are good, and kind to bars). Charity shops/car boot sales generally come up trumps. Also, after this many years, I have a number of bars, pick sets scattered around in the steel and dobro cases anyway - so whatever I pick up will have something in it to play with!

There are lots of these pouches always on sale at American Festivals, if you know any steel players over there have them pick (no pun intended) one up for you.Check out steel accessories dealers on the American forum.I would have said try Al Brisco at Steel Guitar Canada but believe he has a $40 minimum on orders now, so unless you were ordering strings or something it would not be viable now.

What a fabulous set of advice - thanks everyone! I knew this would be the place to ask :)

I think I'll go for one of those mobile phone pouches that your belt hooks through and modify it with a little sewing.

Cheers all!
