Anyone sell the Live Strings in the UK, there are a bit pricey to have them sent from the USA...

Don`t know about "live" strings John ..... but Rebecca is still selling the Buddy Emmons signature series sets for..
E9th £6 per set---- C6th £7 per set ---- and 12 string uni for £8 per set you can`t say fairer than that

I always reckon " If they are good enough for Emmons" they are good enough for me.... and D.H........

Hi JD, I have always used SIT,I like to keep up to date with new stuff,you never know they might be as good as they are saying over on the USA forum.no breakage and great tone.

I suppose the choice of strings is a case of "one mans meat...."
With high quality of string production today they are almost all the same(to Me)
I have tried them all, over the years and have settled on two brands which I have found to be long lasting and of good tone.
On My gigging guitar I change strings after about 50 hours of playing and have never broken a string onstage,My tone has remained good throughout.
I bought some "Live" strings and did not find them any better than the others,in fact I broke a string after only 15 hours playing.
I did a little experiment a short while ago and I installed(on My stay at home guitar) a mixed set, I used strings of four different brands making sure that there was at least one plain and one wound string of each brand on the guitar.
Having read all the reviews on the big Forum about brand Xxx coming to pitch quicker,sounding clearer,staying in tune,greater intonation,longer lasting and every other descriptive adjective available I paid some attention to My new set.
Funnily enough I did not find any difference in speed of tuning,tone, intonation and so on,I have not Yet broken a string after about 30 hours of playing.There was no difference in tone or feel between each string .
All I will say is that I have found what works for Me and will be staying with what I am using,I do'nt see any point in saying that any of the brands that other players are using are bad,to each His own.

Hi Billy, you have some good point's there,Like I said I like to keep up with new things. If I need to change strings it won't hurt to try something new, it would be interesting to hear of other players that have tried them.

I can give you guys a little insight as, when I first started bringing in the strings I went to the string factory in Acron Ohio and was given the guided tour by the company founder Mr.Virgil Lay may he R.I.P. a lovely old gent who was rightly proud of the secret process he had developed to stop the strings from slipping. It involved spraying the windings around the ball ends with some kind of resin treatment and it worked, he also showed me a huge lump of solid resin from the back of his spray booth that represented 16 years of his work..... He told me that the steel came from Kentucky and the ball ends because of the precision required they imported from Switzerland, I think from a watch making company....
As we moved from the machine shop to the despatch dept....... I saw boxes of strings destined for all over the world and the different packaging was endless.... So what I am saying is you could buy your strings in Japan and they may well be in a strange packet but there is a good chance they came off the same machine as Bec`s S.I.T.`s

Stay with SIT...

I have tried lots, and Johns price is right and they will only break when you've left them on too long.

I tried LIve Steel strings having read all the great reviews... and was left rather disappointed. I couldn't really tell the difference, broke the 3rd string after about 3 weeks and went back to SIT's as supplied by John. I guess it takes all sorts, you get what you pay for etc blah blah - but SITs are good enough for me and a great service from John and co.
Latest set of SITs on 7 weeks now, solidly in tune etc. Look no further!

I'm very happy with the SIT's John sent me, put them on the other night... seemed to stretch a bit at first but now settled in nicely and holding tune well. If a set that fit themselves come on the market i might be tempted to change but happy with SIT for now 8-)
