First Time Buyer looking for Instrument

Guitarist looking to purchase first pedal steel (not, however, looking for starter instrument). Having spent a couple of weeks trawling the internet it seems that the best type of instrument for me would be an E9 tuned, single 10, 3X4 or 3x5 (that is to say, not too intimidating but with scope to develop). However as I am new to the instrument I am quite open to being corrected on this. Cash available for good quality instrument.
