Starter Steel Wanted

I'm looking for a steel to get me up and running. I've played lap and Dobro for years now and have decided the time has come!
Any suggestions are most welcome if it involves upto about £700 (give or take) changing hands.

Have a look on the USA steel forum. They have reasoably priced single neck guitars that would still be good value after being imported to the UK.
