Kev, My advice would be...... jump on a train, it will take you right to my door as I live on the station (station Cottages) and I can set up 4 different makes of steel for you to try p/pull and all pull and can point out the merits of each with no obligation to purchase anything...... if you are a total beginner you would leave here with a better idea of what you are looking for....

Take his advice Kev, Yes it's a long way from Leeds but well worth the trip. I'd bet you buy one of 'em.

....Just about 'out of the woods' now following a persistant viral infection
...and still wanting to know what else is out there....probably an S-10 at this stage

if you have or can save up 820 quid, you can get a brand new zumsteel stage one including shipping
of course you'll have to add uk's custom fees since i don't really know what they comes too
or if you have an address on the continent have it shipped there
it gets sent postal, is cheaper & here in france customs fees don't necessarily get collected - it's a poker game hah !

Kev, If still looking, beautiful SD10 3, 4 available, GL PF 2 pickup, sounds, looks plays great, Also avail Peavey Nashville 1000, 300 watt amp with BW speaker , needs very slight attention, Hilton vol pedal 3 mnths old, few lessons if required, all very good price, I' in York ,call me if interested,Steve, 01904 848928.

Can I suggest that you check out the USA steel forum 'for sale' section. There are some incredible bargains on there that make it worth paying shipping, VAT and customs charges and still ending up with a relatively cheap guitar.

Appreciate that Ken....there are some fine looking things on those pages.
The idea of not actually being able to eyeball, and have 'hands on' is the thing that puts me off a bit there. I'm sure that something will turn up this side of the 'pond', and I'm in no hurry
