I use an Elite Seat which I purchased from Herby Wallace several years ago, the seat has a fold down back rest and can store all your leads/pedal etc. I bought it while in the States for something in the region of approx £110. It is quite a heavy seat when fully loaded with all your bits but very well made.

Many thanks for all the advice. I have ended up buying a Gibraltar Roc-N-Soc 9608M drum throne, mainly because I need something quickly and this seemed to be the most easily accessed option. I now have time to consider the steel-specific options.

Thanks again,

Chris

Here is a cheapy fold up seat with backrest that would be ideal for a student or gigging steeler who has a separate case to hold their bits and bobs. http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/sp ... _23140.htm
