Newbie

Postby Blobbo » Tue Jan 04, 2022 1:00 pm

Just wanted to say hi,I'm new to this society and have no musical Experiance.
I would like to purchase a left handed lap steel to learn on but very hard to come by also it needs to be cheap three hundred pounds or less.
Hopefully someone out there can help.

Hi Bob,
First of all, welcome to the best and friendliest forum on the web - you'll find plenty of help, encouragement and support here :-D
At the risk of sounding like a heathen, with a lap steel you should be able to just re-string the guitar the other way around without a lot of difficulty, similar to Jimi Hendrix's Strat, especially if you can get one without volume and tone knobs in the way. Might be easier and cheaper than sourcing a leftie? Apologies if you've already considered and discounted this option though.
Cheers, Sid

Thanks Simon, I have looked at doing it by restringing a right hand model but I'm a bit of a stickler for things being right.
Same as my sport archery when everything is right and I still miss then it's me.
But saying that I will have to do it otherwise I will never get started, so I'll wait a couple of weeks.
On that note can anyone suggest which one to get for changing over to a lefty.

Bob,

Hi Bob,

I am also a leftie and had the same problem as you. I do have a leftie lap steel and a double 10 pedal steel which I had to have made for me by Ronnie Bennett. I am still in the early learning stage for both of them.
Sadly I am not selling my lap steel because I use that when I go on holiday in my caravan.

Where do you live? if you're not to far you would be welcome to come and try mine.

Regards,
Baz.

Ahh.....I'm a bit north of you in West London! Where the M25 meets the M40.

But I think there is a member on here that lives in Southampton.

Baz.
