leg sockets

Postby Tony Russell Davis » Tue Jun 16, 2015 2:08 pm

Before I buy some aluminium blanks and a tap, has anybody got at least 3 leg sockets (or 4) to sell? It looks like a 1/2in x 13 thread. I need to fit them to the underside of an 8string (to replace some coffee-table jobbies - see below). I can do quite a bit of machining to make things fit so the style is not critical.

Where did that beauty come from? Looks like a PS with no pedals?

Sweet!

From the look of the parts, much, if not all of the hardware looks like Ron Bennett's work. The bridge is clearly designed for PSG and could have accommodated 10 strings with some adaptation. String spacing is quite wide across the 8 strings but that makes accurate slants, as well as pulling behind the bar, a bit easier.
My guess is that somebody got hold of the parts with a view to adding pedals at some stage - there is even a superfluous "pedal" bar that I don't bother fitting. I have to take my hat off to whoever did the finish, it must have umpteen layers of paint/lacquer to get that depth to the shine. I got it from a bloke in East Anglia.
At present the body is attached, by two knurled hand-nuts, to a framework that the legs screw into. I will remove the "coffee table" fittings from that frame and replace with adjustable legs, hence three will do, four may have a better look.
It sounds great, the p/up has a really high output and a "Fenderish" tone.
Once I've sorted the legs I will probably sell it or the MultiKord T-8 - I have too many guitars and amps.
