Backing Tracks

Last year I worked on a show with a young lady, she was using something like a solid state track player, she had a list of songs showing in the left window, and when she selectad a song she pushed a button and it transferd the track to the right window, and thats how she made her spot up.
Sony have stopped making mini disc players now, and something like this item with no moving parts looks like the buisness. will anyone out there know what this item is as I need one, my mini disc has just given up the ghost.
Should have made a note of the item, still, shut the gate after the horse has bolted.

Slim,why not try an ipad or even an iphone. There are several good apps like "CoolSet" or "OneTrack" which let you build and edit setlists. You can play the track and it pauses at the end and cues up the next track. Coolset will also display lyrics and/or tab/chord charts while track is playing. No moving parts whatsoever.
Numark and others make plyers that use memory cards/sticks.

I use a android tablet from Maplins, it's a ten inch display. very easy to use, just put your tracks into a folder and use the explorer to open the folder. select the track by touching the screen and it will play.

Slim, you can always get another minidisc player, I got a little one from eBay, cost me £15 or so - smaller than a Walkman but does the trick.

I used an iPad mini yesterday with software called backtracks, its great.
Takes playlists straight from iTunes and doesn't run fom one song into another, i.e. it plays the song then moves to the next track waiting for you to press play when you're ready. Touch screen is a little fidly with picks on though.
