Advice needed for Pedal Steel virgin

Hi

My name's Dave, I've been playing guitar for 30 years now and want to get into playing Pedal Steel.

Where the heck do I start and what is a good Pedal Steel guitar for me to start on ?

Obviously I want one which is playable, but reasonably priced .. any recommendations ?

I live in the Midlands ... are there any shops that you could recommend to me ?
