Making up my own cables and leads

Postby saddletramp » Mon May 21, 2012 8:32 pm

I've got to the stage where I have a few pedals and effects in my signal chain and I want to connect them with the shortest possible leads to reduce clutter on stage and unnecessary electrical resistance in the signal path. I don't have enough gear to warrant a dedicated pedal board, but I want to connect maybe 3 or 4, including the volume pedal.

Rather than try to source lots of different lengths of cables I am considering making my own custom lengths. Has anyone done this? If so, where is the best place to buy good quality cable and jack plugs in the UK?

Good quality cables with less resistance but not over the top in price ? I made up 28 Edac multicore cables for my mixer and the make of cable I used was called Van Dam. With eighty mixer tracks running there is no hiss. Specialist guitar cables can be made up to order by my friend Robbie Gladwell at his work shop. Robbie was the european Gibson USA guitar importer and demonstrator and services and sells guitars. A very clever man. Robbie's business number is in Sudbury Suffolk England.: 01787 373706
