Advice on pick ups

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a different pick up to try out in my LDG...at the minute i have a E-66 which is great but i just want to try something with a different tone. I was going to buy either the George L's PF-1 or PF-2..

Do any of you have any knowledge of these pick ups, pro's and cons????

I installed the GeorgeL TW on my Emmons LeGrande. To my ears it greatly improved the sound. Not that there was anything wrong with the sound to begin with. I just wanted to experiment and fully expected to be not hear much of a difference. However, I was very pleased with result. The sound was richer, there was better string definition and the high mid shrillness was gone. Of course some folks like that shrillness......

I think changing from an E-66 to a PF you'll definitely get a more mellow sound. Is that what you want? I don't know about the difference between the PF1 and PF2. I suggest searching the US forum.

Matt I had PF 1 on my old Shobud pro 1, did not like it and changed for E66, much better sound, improved string separation.Had the GL TW's on my Mullen (came with them fitted ) and really liked them.At moment have Truetone and Alumatone for my Millenium and like both.You should be able to get GL's from Gerry Hogan

Well, the other side of the coin. I replaced my standard 1971 Emmons twin coil with a George L's PF-1 and found a tremendous improvement in noise/hum and tonal response.
Just goes to show what the old maxim states "Horses for Courses" six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Matt, noticed on b0b's forum you said that you might get pickups when touring in US, unless you are lucky enough to be in vicinity of a steel store, or do a deal with forum member to get pickup to you , you will find the average music store over there have little idea what a pedal steel is let alone have any bits and pieces for them.Don't know exactly where your tour is , but would probably be a good idea to do some homework on whats in area or see if any pups for sale in any of areas you are touring.Malcolm
