Hi Luke,
Welcombe to the forum.
Pedal steels normally come with a Hard Case, you could try a Steel Guitar builder like Bob Adams (you'll find Bob on this forum)who may build a case to your specs.

Hi Fellas,
Cheers for that, I do have a case with mine but it's as old as the steel, (70's I think!) The Leather handle has now broken and I'm using a belt, it's quite a stylish belt though.
Also all the foam inside is just crumbling to bits which cant be good for the mechanism inside.
Either I get a new case or get this one refurbished..

If the case is still useable, strip it out and re-line with new foam rubber (which needs to be pretty sturdy) and fabric. I've used Copydex, sparingly, as a contact adhesive for that kind of stuff on homemade cases. The handle can be replaced too - use bolts and wide washers, or metal plates, underneath the lining (don't rely on screws) to make sure the load is spread over as wide an area as poss. Smooth off anything that sticks into the interior, the handle fixings are usually into the leg compartment, but you don't want potential scratching anyway. T.
PS if you go this route, what about a couple of wheels on one end and a flight-case handle on the other while you're about it?

Thanks tony,
I think I will look into the rubber or plush lining to avoid the foam disintegrating in the future, Any recommendations on where to get this stuff?
The Spray adhesive will be no problem getting.

Not sure where you are, but I got some stuff from an upholsterer's shop in my area and also bought some remnants of a kind of velvet material from a market.
I made it up as I went along; but if I did it again my first port of call would be to google and see if there are any articles or youtube vids on case making, they would have to consider the finishing off too. T.
A thought just struck me - for a steel guitar you only need to have substantial rubber where the guitar rests on the carriers and parts of the sides of the case. That could be made of sheet rubber (thickness and density depends on how tight the space is for the guitar in the case - sturdy as possible I guess) or something like certain types of mouse mat material? The rest of the lining is mostly cosmetic and more flimsy, and lighter, foam sheet could go elsewhere.
