S10 E9 (3+4) wanted

I've recently sold my beginner steel and one of my basses and am now looking for a quality instrument which will last me for many years to come.

As per the title, I'm looking for an S10 E9 with at least 3+4. Ideally an Emmons setup, but if you have an instrument which can be altered to that setup that that'll be fine.

It has to be an S10, as I don't have room for a SD10 or D10.

The budget is around GBP £1000 and if you're reading this from outside the UK, then please bear in mind that that budget will have to include shipping and import taxes.

An S10 will have a narrower body than a SD10, but the actual 'footprint' will not be much different, as the legs are splayed out more on most S10's, to improve stability

Well you got that right Richard ! ,also from a comfort angle and having something to rest your porridge bowl on in the mornings... I know what I would prefer

Getting off thread slightly, but I've just changed from a S10 to an SD10 and find it much more comfortable. It's a shame you're north of the border, mate. I'm sure JD would have let you have a test drive!

I've asked John for the footprint, been around around the room with a tape measure, and the SD10 does not fit

Comfort-wise, I felt fine with a small S10 and don't see the point in spending what is a huge amount of money on an instrument which isn't right or may need altering just so I can get into the room where my musical instruments are!

Getting a suitable instrument is now becoming a pain in the behind.

Mark, I 'm afraid it is the fact that there are a lot less S10's around than SD10'S or D10.There are many reasons for this, many players recon the wider bodies have more sustain and are more comfortable to play both lever and pedal position wise, and the arm/wrist support of a pad on long gigs, obviously this is a matter of personal taste.I can only think of one well known Scottish player who uses an S10,and think this may be down to being smaller and easier to travel with when flying.Being that most players prefer a wider body means that there are obviously a lot less smaller guitars on the market.I noticed that you said you had multiple guitars etc in your room, perhaps you could look at storing a few elsewhere to give you the extra few inches difference needed to fit in a SD10 and give you a much wider chance of getting a guitar from what is after all a not very big market here in the UK.Best of luck finding a guitar, and am sure everyone here will do their best to help you get one.

My sleeping habits are all over the place at the moment. End up sleeping too much during the day and end up staying up too late at night. Just one of those bad periods.
