Hi all, Canadian steeler over in France here...
I'm looking around for an SGI S10 built by Excel in the 80's - the later model, just like this one:

Hi Stew, welcome to our forum, I have never seen one of those guitars over here and I think the closest you would get to it this side of the pond would be a Carter Starter, they are fairly common here.
If you want something light and portable with pro quality I have something here that ticks that box but a Carter starter would be a lot cheaper and easier to obtain.

Thanks John - I had a Carter Starter probably 20 yrs ago! I've been a serious player for quite a while and am looking for something that's pro yet ultra-light so I don't have to lug my EMCI up and down the metro stairs and up to 6th floor walkups any more... I've asked Mitsou at Excel if he'll build the SGI model again and he hasn't 'exactly' agreed but hasn't said no either haha so I'm looking for a second hand one in the meantime. I've seen a few that traded hands in Germany in the last handful of years so I know they are out there... Somewhere...
What is the light and pro steel you're talking about?
cheers,
Stew

The case in inches is 11.3/4" X 6.3/4" X 35.1/2"
This is a beautifully made transition from Shobud to Fender guitar, probably a promo creation it plays smooth as silk and is all superpro underneath. It is a bit like the Artist series on steroids.
Any further interest please pm.

Looks like a great steel that would normally be right up my alley but I’m determined to get the total weight to 20lbs in a gig bag

Even a Carter starter would struggle to get to that weight you would have to drill it full of holes......
I would not sell this guitar to someone who would travel it outside of its case, it is much too nice for that.

Good idea - a classic like that needs proper protection !
