Half stop mechanism

Hi folks ,
Anyone got a half stop unit they want to get rid of. I want to lower 2nd string incrementally. Thanks for looking .

Hi Dave, I may have one ...not sure..but if I have, i'm not sure that I want to "get rid of it" though I may be persuaded to part with it if someone was prepared to make a donation to our wonderful forum..........

Dave - what guitar have you got? You're talking E9th so if it's an S-10 you can hook up a pull to string 9. By trying different holes in the bell-crank and pulling fingers and finding appropriate gauge strings you can get the 2nd string to get to D at the same time as the lever picks up string 9. You can feel the additional resistance and stop there if it's just the 2nd you want. Then both continue down half tone to C#. The "dead" stops will need to be adjusted to allow the extra distance. That's how most do it.
D-10 is more tricky if you have a C6th pull on the same lever.

This part, tho it be MSA would serve just as well on any plonking machine IMHO.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the reply.I will give it some thought .My steel is a Mullen RP.I have a spare Mullen bell crank .....its just fitting the stop mechanism to the bell crank....is the brass thing on left of your photo to go on the crank , if so how does it do so.My bell crank could need a mod ...larger hole etc.
Hi Tony thanks for your reply too.I think it would be more feasible to deploy a half stop mechanism in my case.But can understand how this would work.More cranks and pull rods would be needed than I have ,plus it seems quite a lot of "action" tweeking is required.

Dave my advice would be bite the bullet and order one from Mullen, I am sure Ted could get it for you on the hurry up...

It's not really difficult - but the MSA parts that John has will do the job and are essential if you don't have a 9th string hooked up to that KL.

Like Tony I just use the 9th string as the half stop.
