Show Pro PSG spares

Has any member had difficulty in obtaining spares parts for their Show Pro steel guitar?

I own a D10 Show Pro, and a jolly fine instrument it is too. Now, owner of Show Pro - Jeff Surratt - is reluctant to send lever kits or other parts out to owners of his guitars because if someone does a bodge job on a retro fit of a part on one of his guitars then in the long run it could affect his reputation.

I once asked Jeff (who is a dear friend of mine) if I could buy a couple of knee lever kits for the C6 neck. He point blank refused, and I could understand why when the reason was made clear to me. However, if I had wanted to push the matter further, I could have bought spares for a Sho~Bud Super Pro, which are very close to Show Pro parts. But I have too much respect for Jeff to do that.

The parts which Richard seeks are a direct replacement for worn parts. I know that jeff does not send out hardware which could easily be installed badly,thus possible giving the maker a bad name. I think in this case it is quite bad customer relations by not supplying a replacement for a worn part which is an easy item to fit.

I spoke to Bob Adams this evening who has agreed to make the necessary replacement parts for me. I am in total agreement with you Ken, Show Pro guitars are indeed fine instruments.

Bob is a credit to the British steel guitar scene, and it's good that you have a plan B for replacement parts for your Show Pro. I have used my good mate Michael Yahl from Texas as a source for replacement parts for some of my steels in the past. However, the shipping charges are just ludicrous. Bob's parts are superb quality, and don't attract stupid postage.

They are more artisan than CNC precision but they should do the job, I have made very slight changes to avoid your previous problems.

Well now, take that Mr Surratt, that's all it took to fix Richard's problem. Jeff Surratt could have sent these items and gained himself a huge amount of respect from all ( no offence meant Mr Byng) but surely making a bodged job of fitting parts is the fault of the fitter not the manufacturer. In my humble opinion this is poor after sales service. In my experience a lot of the manufacturers seem reluctant to send parts overseas, what exactly is their problem when the purchaser pays the tab.
Is it too much hassle to stick something in a Jiffy Envelope and post it. Do they really expect us to send the guitars back them from Blighty.

I don't generally work with steel as it knocks the crap out of end mills etc, but had these been steel as per the (orig) Sho Bud this would not have been an issue (at least not for many years.)

Long story cut shot:
I once had a Volvo / broke down on a very busy roundabout / Volvo said, new ECU approx £2k /
a contact in the trade said it's a relay, get one but don't fit direct to the board, did so and car ran like a dream until sold, did I blame Volvo ... no!

Some of our fringe suppliers are hot on supply, the guys on pedals and tuners etc., but it has always seemed that the PSG guys really can't be bothered.

But for Mr Nesbitt being in the US at the time it was going to cost me $86 to get a plastic fretboard and a few little parts over, it is just crazy!!

We have valuable machines, we need a value of service!
