Steel Pedal Guitar for sale

Hi everyone. We are from the Telford area and have recently come across a steel pedal guitar (it took us a while to find out what it was as we do house clearances and dont deal with many instruments.) and have been told it may be worth something but cant find an outlet for it. As far as we can tell it may have a couple of the rods missing so may need some restoration but on the side it has a sticker that says "Boss" and on the top the plastic part that goes underneath the strings says Z.B Custom guitars.
I dont know what to ask for it so anybody interested is welcome to have a look and make an offer. I'll try to answer any questions as well as possible but I can only go by what I see unless I know what I'm looking for.
Many thanks,
Phil.

It looks very much like a ZB Student model. Some better quality photos may help. The guitars originally came with 1 or 2 levers and 3 floor pedals. If you take a shot of the undercarriage, a couple of the front ant top of the guitar and a final one of what pedal rods you have then some of the guys here will give you an idea of its value. It is about condition and about any work that needs to be done.

There is one forum player who lives not far from Telford who may be able to give the guitar the once over.

Regards
Ken

I do believe that it is my old ZB student, that I upgraded to 4 levers, back in 1990 :D

Yes, looking at the knee levers it's definately my first ZB.

If it has not been altered from my setup, it is a very easy-playing steel, as I had festooned it with helper springs etc.

I gigged it for quite a while, it had a fantastic tone, but suffered from quite a bit of cabinet drop.

I'm a bit older and more experienced now, and could probably get around the cab drop problem with various methods that I have devised in more recent years

My wife wanted a new stair carpet at the time, so I had to sell this ZB to fund it :(

Tone machines. One of the best sounding steels that I ever sold for Mr Snowball was a ZB Student.

This guitar is on eBay - Item number: 230553327305. It looks as though someone has removed the plasticised top to reveal the wood underneath. It needs new pedal rods but at the moment it is as cheap as chips.

I've still got the red plastic top in my attic :D

Now that the photos are on ebay, I can remember what some of my mods were.

Theres a large angle bracket (under the headstock end) that holds the helper spring adjusting screws

Theres a couple of collars on the front legs, to make assembly easier, as I was gigging this steel

And of course, the addition of 3 knee levers.

I'm feeling nostalgic for this steel, but I must fight the impulse to bid......I must..... :D
