Framus 8 string

Postby Ruby Darnell » Sun Jan 13, 2013 10:06 pm

Looking to sell one of my lap steels - a little Framus 8 string. I think it's around 1959. Can post some pics if anyone interested.

OK pics of the Framus...

Lead connection

It's a Framus Sumbawa with an old style lead connection (like a light bulb that screws on). Big magnet pick up that is fastened to the cover. All original. Also in original case (although the case is all in one piece and the fasteners all work, someone in the past has stuck a big bit of tape on the top! Has the numbers 559 stamped in the top of the guitar at the top on the back between the pegs. There are a few 'pock' marks on the bottom of each side where there were tacks sticking out from the inside of the case where it was stored. I just flattened these back into the case when I got it so it didn't mark the guitar anymore. Wish someone had done this before!
Anyhow, if anyone is interested, let me know. If I get no takers between now and Sunday, I'll stick it on ebay and see what happens. It plays beautifully by the way with a lovely tone and is incredibly light. I've been playing it at gigs for a couple of years and it's light enough to be on my lap for ages at a time with no dead leg!

Also...have a couple of leads to go with it. One isnt working at the moment and the other has started going on and off. I think they both just need soldering. One of them was the lead that came with it when I bought it and the other was a new one I had sent over from Angela's in America. Both have the right screw on connector end.
