Telonics Rack System and Speakers

Here’s a chance to get your hands on an amazing Telonics stereo rack amplifier system!

They’re no longer made (although they are still supported) and this a rare European-spec one with not only 230V input but the hum filter set to 50Hz! It’s extremely loud but I don’t do loud gigs any more, so it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. I've owned it for the best part of ten years and it's been totally reliable.

It consists of the 3-unit rack with the PRE-1000 specialist preamp, the PA200 power amp, the beautiful Lexicon MX200 (which they also don’t make any more) and a pair of Eminence 15" 4Ω speakers with the folding feet that tilt them back if you want, complete with soft-lined covers.

When I acquired it, the 9V AC power supply for the Lexicon (which is just a heavy transformer) was flying around in the front compartment, so I made a bracket to install it safely inside the rack - hard to photograph, but you get the idea.

It's hard to price gear that's out of production but not yet vintage, but I reckon it's worth around £2k. What do you think? There can't be that many around.

I should have added that I don't have the means to ship all this, so ideally it would be collected, or I could deliver a reasonable distance or hand over mid way.

To save folks wading through manuals, I thought I'd point out the key features that make this such a powerful piece of kit, designed as it was by steelers for steelers. In no particular order.....

1. Mute switch. Most amps have a headphone socket that cuts the speakers, but here your headphones can be left plugged in and live. If you want privacy, just flick the switch.
2. The tone control is comprehensive enough, but it also has a BLEND knob that mixes the EQ'd sound with the flat. Why? so that you can instantly control the amount of contour you've created without having to tweak all five pots!
3. Second input for a Tele (or in my case a bass) without having to replug.
4. Modelled DI (selectable at the rear).
5. Last but not least - it has the plug-in working LED light (see 3rd pic from the top of the OP), which was not easy to get hold of (impossible now, I imagine) and is incredibly convenient.

I wonder whether to offer the rack and the cabs separately. Personally I love 15s, but everyone has different ideas depending on what music they play. Thoughts welcome....
