Latest update on ebay has more photo's showing missing/retained parts & it looks like the E clips are there ( although they shouldn't be much of a problem as they are a common engineering item). He has given the London Location as Craven Park Road, Harlesden, London NW10 8SR. So I'm sure that if anyone down that way wanted to view & check the serial number I can't see that being a problem.
Still a Starting price of £1500.00 is a tad high, for me at least. However you never know, I have had moments of weakness in the past

Well, even if i was interested, i wouldnt bid, not after he has hiked the price from 1350 to 1500, and there are too many worrying aspects here, removed C6 parts? what is that all about? who removed them? not this guy who doesnt know the front of a steel from the back, basically someone who doesnt know anything about steel guitars, removed the C6 mechanics, i doubt it? the words 'touch' ' a bargepole' 'dont' and 'with' spring to mind here,

Billy - I'm the guilty party I'm afraid. I deliberated long and hard yesterday, before putting a bid in last night. I chatted it through with my missus as to whether to go for it or not. Bless her - she is just recovering from major surgery - and she said go for it. (No it wasn't the morphine talking!!)

I am due to pick it up this weekend, and I have told the advertiser that I will be paying cash on collection. However, I did say that if the guitar body and polished metal parts are in anything less than 'new' condition as described then I would walk away from the deal, even if it means getting my very first negative feedback. The same applied if the serial number had been removed. He was surprisingly OK with this pre-condition. I learned today that the actual seller in north west London is called Mike, and he has all of the documentation from the purchase that he made from the Emmons factory direct.

It was only the late appearance of the removed parts on the eBay advert that made me reconsider on this. At £1350, it was a reasonable purchase. At £1500, with all of the work required it wasn't such a snip. I will be interested to hear the background of how this guitar was acquired first hand from the guy who bought it.

Well, the plot thickens. I have just spent a lengthy phone call with the owner, who it would appear is 100% genuine. He is a New Zealander, and bought the guitar direct from Ron Lashley in 1994. The owner's name is Mike Watson and he had the guitar specially built, even though he can't play a note.

I gather he tried to play the guitar when he received it, but after failing to get anywhere with it, he put it back in the case and didn't touch it again for years. He then came to England and brought the guitar with him. Somehow, he obtained Eric Snowball's details and took the guitar to him to get the once over. Allegedly, Eric told him that it was unplayable and that as a learner he didn't need the C6 neck. Eric charged Mike £400 to set up the E9 neck and then proceeded to remove all of the pedals on the C6 neck along with all of the bits and pieces. I told Mike that he paid out £400 for Eric to devalue the guitar. It didn't need anything doing apart from being fine tuned. It sounds as though he may have been ripped off, but I'm sure that Eric may have his own version of events. Apparently, Eric bagged up all of the parts that he removed.

The guitar has not ever been gigged, and comes complete with an Emmons volume pedal. Mike Watson is quite genuine, and has told me that if I don't like what I find on Saturday, he will just keep it and send it to his brother in Australia for safe keeping. There will be no hard feelings. He can't be any fairer than that. I feel bad ever questioning his integrity at the beginning of this saga, but at least I now know who the culprit is who decided that the guitar was best off without the C6 part of it.
