Whilst the sound on the student is good, the let down is the undercarriage. The biggest headache was the knee levers. The cross shafts are supported by holes in the main frame which are too close to the bottom of the frame. This makes the knee contact point on the knee lever too close to the fulcrum thus difficult to move and painful. I had to extend the rear legs to make the guitar lean forward so that the contact point was lower on the lever.

Thanks for all the replies chaps.
I guess I will put it on ebay. Or keep it for now.
As I said, having no other psg to compare it to makes it hard to comment on. Mick, your description rings true though. I put foam pipe insulation around the knee levers at one point to make them less uncomfortable.
John, all four knee levers work and the two foot pedals, it's just been set up to not use the third one.
Zebedee, can you tell me where the pivot point is? is it the screw on the underside which affects how far the lever can..erm pivot?
No worries if it's too complicated.
Thanks again all.

I have played hundreds of pedal steels over the years, and I always say that one guitar that I played from the ZB range had just exceptional tone. That guitar happened to be a black plastic topped ZB Student model. It sounded better than many pro guitars that I have played.
That's exactly what I have...ZB black student 3x1.... I've had a few pro's visiting here in the Virgin Islands who gave it a go and said something similar..I've only been playing about 6 years..but I gig weekly with it... it's the only PSG in the islands..thanks for that comment..cheers from St Thomas Virgin Islands
