EMMON D10 ON EBAY

Postby STEDDIE EDDIE » Tue Jul 05, 2011 1:44 pm

Just noticed an emmons d10 on ebay, 0 bids, starting price at £1350, guitar is in Wolverhampton, might be of interest to someone on here, judging by the item description, the seller doesnt seem to know anything about steel guitars, claiming it has 20 strings, 2 x 10[true] and comes complete with its own stand [very true]

I just spoke to him too. 5 of the C6th pedals complete with crossbars, pullers, pull rods and a knee lever assembly have been removed. If some of those bits are missing it means ordering new ones. I found the advertiser to be very vague about this guitar. Allegedly his mate (the seller) knows nothing about the guitar, yet found it necessary to remove over half of the undercarriage 'to make it easier to play' (allegedly). My question was - why buy a twin neck if you only want to play E9? I was going to make a serious bid for this guitar, but unless he shows pictures of all removed parts, including the E-clips, then I will give it a miss. It will be a load of work re-assembling the parts.

Most peculiar.. !!

The guy has a 100% feedback score and has sold a number of guitars albeit not PSGs but his feedback is ok!

Yet there are no follow up pictures as stated ‘to come’ and half the undercarriage apparently removed (not stated!)

and above all it is described as:

New other (see details): A new, unused item with absolutely no signs of wear. The item may be missing its original packaging, or the original packaging has been opened or is no longer sealed. The item may be a 'factory second', or a new and unused item with minor defects. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections

Hello!!! sandwiches! come in, anybody there!!!!

I’m sure Emmons would appreciate the bold print!

This add needs serious revision!!!!

Bob - he might have 299 transactions, but only 6 of those are items that he has sold. It has crossed my mind that the seller may run a second hand shop. My real concern is if the guitar has been 'half inched'. Logically - who would buy an Emmons LG, and then proceed to strip out 5 pedals, one lever and all of the relevant parts? It doesn't quite add up, unless you want to change the appearance of the guitar. The fact that neither of these two characters knows anything at all about pedal steel is worrying, as you would not normally lay out the asking price for a S/H Emmons D10 if you know nothing about steel guitars. One thing is for sure - the guitar in its current state looks nothing like it does in the advertised picture. Alarm bells are going off!!

yeah, my first thoughts when i posted this thread was the worrying lack of knowledge of the instrument by the seller, and the removed parts, thats very strange, what was to be gained by removing the back neck mechanics? even if some one just played the front neck, you just wouldnt start disecting the guitar, i agree that this sounds very dodgy, wonder would they agree to someone viewing it? that might tell a tale!

Best not to phone anyone off eBay as calls cannot be traced. Ask questions via the ask seller a question and the Qs and A,s are logged. I've asked for serial number and a few other things no reply as yet!! I'll let you know. Alan

The advertiser has just bumped the price up to £1500, and I won't be surprised if he whacks it up again. The seller location has also changed location from Wolverhampton to London. This gets more interesting by the minute. I have an SD10 equivalent of this guitar - same colour but with 5 knees.

He may struggle to sell it if buyers are made aware that they have to fit all the jigsaw pieces back to get it fully working, and thats if the owner hasn't lost any of the screws, clips, brackets and other parts. It looked like a possible bargain at one point, but I won't be going anywhere near it.

Hi all,
Asked, via ebay, of this Genuine (IMHO) seller about the missing parts for this guitar and he responded that everything is available to return it back to 8 pedals and the sale includes the original case. It's in London at present but since he has requested pickup in person I naturally asked if it could be collected from Wolverhampton and he seems to think that's a possibility.
I had hoped to grab this one as a bargain since I wouldn't have minded having to put it back together but obviously there must have been a lot of interest shown, probably generated by this post & he now knows that its worth more than his original opening of £1350.00. Of course if I'd have bitten the bullet and bid straight away he wouldn't have been able to 'jack' the price but then no doubt I would have been out bid by one of you more affluent Gentlemen
Still a nice thought but I'm not sure her indoors would stand for much over £1500.00 anyway :(
