Postby Basil Henriques » Mon Sep 15, 2014 9:37 pm

Finished moving house and have now decided what must go..
These for a start off, quite rare AND vintage James B. Lansing D130 woofers are in amazing completely ORIGINAL working condition. One has some slight repair work, which does NOT affect it's working
These are very early model 16 OHM woofers with serial numbers 17759 & 60392. Original cones # 130 202
This is an amazing set of drivers and they need a good home! Please look at ALL of my pictures and feel free to contact me on the forum if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi Basil

How much do you want for the 8 ohms speaker? I was thinking of putting it in my vibrio sonic the original orange jbl has blown. Alan. I guess on of the 16 ohms speaker would not work?

Alan, £35 as it's part of the deal with the other two, I WILL split however. Also be aware it's a 600 Watt speaker, specs HERE

A single D130 or D130F in any amp that can put out over 50watts is an accident waiting to happen.
80watts will blow a single D130, either the ORIGINAL 'Signature Speaker' one or the Fender spec 'Orange' one.
That's why I have two and that's why they are 16 ohms, the two together are 8 ohms and 160 watts rms capable (Just) The Showman 2x15 and Bassman 2x15 used these speakers, The orange D130F's were in the Vibrasonic and were optional in many other open back models. All the enclosed cabs used the D130.
These two are from a Showman Cab..

The D130 featured a four-inch flat ribbon wire voice coil and Alnico V magnet. AlNiCo speakers offer their own natural compression. When the voice coil moves, it creates its own magnetic field that temporarily demagnetizes the AlNiCo a bit. This results in a soft-knee compression that is most noticeable at high volumes.

As for the D130F in a Vibrasonic, see this http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=2118176
Here's something that Fender designed with steel guitar players in mind, and top of the line as far as the brown amps offered that year. 40 watts, with an original 16 ohm JBL D130 (NOT D130F, which came out a little later) with the same output transformer used on the Showman,

In response to various enquiries, I can't post any of them, I won't accept the responsibility of that, also I haven't time to package them properly for a courier to collect.
It's purely one of two options:
1/. Collect in Nuneaton CV10 8AR (My new address)
or
2/. Meet at some waypoint and pay the diesel expenses.

The D series is the holy grail of JBL speakers. As Basil pointed out, they cannot handle excessive amp output wattage. In addition, they should be handled with care during transportation. I had a D120 need a recone once because my Fender Twin fell over in a van that it was being transported in. They don't like sudden jolts.

The D130 is the sweetest sounding 15" speaker ever made. Ideal for steel guitar, but it certainly shouldn't be pushed too hard. This is a very good deal for someone.
Show Pro D10 (amber) 8 + 6, MSA Signature XL D10 (redburst) 9 + 6, Sho~Bud D10 (sunburst) Pro 111 8 + 6, Emmons D10 Push Pull - (black) 8+5, Zumsteel D10 (blue) 8 + 8, Hudson pedal resonator, 10 string lap steel. Telonics, Peavey & Webb amps,
