This is the second part of the bereavement sale I have conducted for a lady at Rotherham. The main guitar gone and she has been paid in full.
I have had two people asking me to find them a "fixer upper" guitar that needs work and is cheap, so here it is and first refusal goes to Tony B (who asked first)
and the second goes to Nickb who asked second after that it is first come first served.
The steel is not playable, I was told it was missing the tuners, on arrival I find it is missing the Headstock and pick up too but, in its favour, I am told it was played by the builder Mr David Dixon before he bought his Shobud so it has worked in the past. There is also a six string Jaggard lap steel that has been modified and has more pick ups than it needs.
I have valued these Items at £250 for both plus shipping, as I believe A case, Mech, and Lappy must be worth that, and would be easily achievable on fleabay BUT BE WARNED it is not for the faint hearted ! it needs work work work!!! So, Any takers????

My humble opinion says, that my son, playing drums and piano and not interested in pedal steels, can make a very good steel, because he is a mechanical engineer!
Existing parts: we measure by laser, the computer makes the drawing, the drawing goes automatically in the CADCAM machine and the product will be ready a few minutes/hours later.
New parts: we make the drawing by computer and the drawing goes automatically etc.
But there is no market for this kind of work, but for sure it is possible to make a very good pedal steel guitar...

Thijs, I did not mean it was impossible to clone a modern fully evolved guitar, especially with the type of gear you mention, but the start from scratch design of this self build and many others I have seen requires the input of a "player" who knows what the finished article needs to feel like to make it playable. And not all engineers are so blessed.....

I've split and merged the topics so that this now has it's own thread...
