State of the Arc?? That is a Practical Wireless special, where they advertised a built-it-yourself plan in one of their editions. Looks like either the prototype or someone actually made one from the plans. Next to that, the Little Buddy looks positively sophisticated!

Quite right, Ken - and the Wharfedale amp looks to be of the same vintage.

One thing I can tell you for certain is that the fretboard and the pickup were made by Cyril Procter of Leeds.

I've still got one of those p/ups, a 10string one. They need a pre-amp to drive a normal amp. Cyril used to adverrtise in the BMG (Banjo, Mandolin and Guitar) magazine.
The plans for the thing on eBay were in a Practical Wireless during 1969; it was antiquated then!

Nice one guys, I still have two Cyril Proctor's, 8 & 10 string PUP's. My late father built one of those, and was fun to play.
Still got the old magazine, (somewhere)
