Here's an interesting item -
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZB-Custom-11-String-Pedal-Steel-Guitar-Eric-Snowball-Al-Perkins/293879272092?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649I worked on this ZB because when Al bought it there were some fx built in and he wanted them out, you can see the little pad I fitted to hide the cavity. It's an OK guitar but a ZB and a ton weight, I doubt if it's been out of the case since the last time Al used it, so at least 10 years I guess. I also set it up it to his co-pedent (he plays "Emmons" pedals with the both "E" levers on the left - BUT has the KLs set up like a "Day" job! So did his pal JDManess).
There's also a Telecaster on eBay with a B-Bender that I made and fitted for him.
Both instruments are priced well over - in my opinion! I believe they belong to the agent that booked/books Kevin Montgomery tours, Al was one of his "Road Trippers" for several years and kept instruments in UK for Euro tours rather than fly them over from US.

I've been on the lookout for a nice ZB for a while, but as you say Tony, the price is a bit rich on both guitars. Eric had 3 or 4 custom made ZBs in his playing life.

I spoke to John Davis about this guitar the other day and he agreed that it was over priced, It looks in good nick but then i guess it should really.
I found Al Perkins playing it on youtube, Shurman feat Al Perkins and Kevin Montgomery sin city. you can clearly see the Eric Snowball plaque front right.
Thats for any Steelie nurds like me that have to see it in action.

Ken - I had a nice D-10 ZB a few years ago. It was blue and had kept it's colour, some seem to fade to brown over the years. I sold it to a young guy on the Forum; I wonder where it is now??? Heavy as an elephant, but a great sound.

Someone's been busy with a paintbrush on that guitar!

Funny you should say that Ken, Johns davis said it looked like someone had painted it with a yard broom

I love his sense of humour, and like you Ken he sees things as they really are. do you like the way they've painted it underneath. Think i might go and buy a tin of spray paint tomorrow, I told John i might buy it if the seller includes a tin of paint stripper.
Oh and when it was 1st advertised it started at £500 then it suddenly moved to £1000. My guess is that he saw the other steels on ebay and thought oh im starting this to cheaply. our fear is that a newbie might buy it not knowing what it really is,

Hi Tony
The ZB you mention was bought by a guy called, I think, Henry. He came to the London steel guitar group I set up a few years ago and there is/was a youtube video of him playing Together Again, quite competently.
He wasn't the biggest guy in the world and played this with a Peavey 400 amp - which also weighed a ton.
I think he started 'tweaking' the set-up without quite knowing what he was doing, and seemed to have messed up the set-up to such an extent that the guitar became unplayable and he stopped coming to the meetings. Shame - he did have potential.
I understand ZB's have a mind of their own and need some knowledge before attempting any major alterations. If Henry still has the guitar, all it needs is a ZB expert to set it up again.
It did sound good!
