Steel Guitarist Wanted for Wedding

Hi Everyone

I hope you don't mind me writing to make this request, but I am getting married in May 2018, in Clevedon, North Somerset and I REALLY want to hire a steel guitarist to play at the wedding breakfast but seem to be hitting a brick wall everywhere I look.

As a small girl, I have such fond memories of falling asleep listening to my Dad play his home made steel and a beautiful yellow pedal guitar (sorry I don't know the difference between pedal, steel and lap). I would love to hear "sleepwalk" and "hawaiian wedding song" amongst others played on our special day and can't believe you are all so rare - there has got to be a calling for this hasn't there; I can't be the only one wanting this????

I would love to see my Dad's face light up when he sees that we've booked someone playing the classics on one of what I think is the most amazing sounding instruments of all time. So can anyone on here please help me find someone willing to travel to us on 12 May 2018 and play. I've googled til my fingertips are sore and I just don't know where else to turn.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi, I would love to come and play but it is quite a long way from Cambridgeshire where I live, I have played solo at a wedding with my backing tracks before and was a little unsure how it would go down but I had a fantastic time :) playing background music to about 300 people and they really looked after me well.

Maybe better if this was moved to anther section, like 'Steel Players and bands' or 'Steel Guitar Cafe' for more airing? :)

Hi!

In a similar vein, we are looking for someone for our Bristol wedding on 9th June. Would anyone be interested?

Thanks!

Hi - I think you need to decide what you want first. Is it a steel guitarist playing alone or with a band? What sort of music are you hoping to hear? Country, Hawaiian, MOR? And indeed for how long..........and by the way, 9th of June is the weekend of the South of England Steel Guitar Festival, which means there will by chance be more steel players about in Bristol than usual - but then presumably they will be at the Festival! Hope that helps, Bob.

Be a good excuse for one of us to nip down there and visit with Uncle Roy and Sylv. :D

Hi Bob,

Thanks so much for your reply! Here's a bit more detail – we'd like one person, playing Hawaiian style for around 2hrs in the afternoon, from 1.30 to 3.30 in the garden. Our wedding is near the centre of town, in Southville.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

We are still looking – please send me a message if you're interested! I forgot to say, it would be a paid gig of course :)

Thanks very much,
