Hi Tony
I quite often talk on the phone with different producers. Most have no clear idea of what they want, but I normally do 3 different takes on the same number(s). This allows the producer to choose which version they prefer. I record on Pro Tools 11, and export the Wav file to a common transfer company such as We Transfer. The producer receives an email to notify that the file is ready to download, normally at no charge. Some Wav files can be way too large to send by normal email routes, but third party usage does the job. Buck Reid put me onto that one.

Are you and Bobby H still thinking of going to the Dallas Show next year?

All modern day sessions are online via file transfer.
It is all I do these days, so I am giving up the gigs at the end of this year, and won't miss it at all!
Price your session per track and not per hour.
You can then spend 5 mins or 5 hours on each track, until you've done your best and you're happy with them.

I did spend quite a few hours on this session, in fact, I remember my lead break in the Beatles song Yesterday took about 2 hours, simply because I wanted prick up the ears of all the steel players who follow his music. Buddy Emmons was the last steel player he used on his last album that needed steel on back in 2009. I am on the other new album too but only on the track called Country Phair.

PS. Lloyd has just sent me some recordings he done, the old way, with everyone playing in the studio, in one go, and in analogue, on tape. it is amazing. I will share it if he lets me, because it's never going on an album as far as I know. It was just a session to remind them all what they done in the 60's..

Talking about recording, I am making the first batch of CDs for Nashville Numbers (Mark Dunns band). This is a GREAT recording of some old classics, you'll have to get this one too, he is playing some MOnSTeR stuff on there, and in tune for a change..

PPS.. I haven't forgotten about you all with reference to the online tuitional material. Just been TOO busy..

Ken why don't you use Dropbox, I use it all the time for client's large photo files, I have friend who has his whole business set up on it so he can run his company from anywhere in the world. I also use it a lot for video and audio! It means I control it by invite rather then any reliance on third party sites, once you have shared a folder with a client you or he can drop files in and out of it anytime you like!

Hi Bob, I am signed up with Dropbox, but I'm not sure if it can compete with 65Gb of file transfer size that We Transfer can facilitate with the pro version. In any case, most of the London studios use We Transfer, so I try to go with the flow so to speak.

Ps - had a great afternoon gig yesterday at my weekly venue. The place was packed to the gunnells with even the car park full of folks having a drink. I had to put my steel away after the first set as there wasn't enough room for it, and just played Tele for the rest of the afternoon.

I usually get paid per track that I do. It is quite fair for both parts. No matter if it's done in the studio or anyplace else. I've done a couple of thousand tracks this way and it works well for me.
