Bob
Nice to hear of an opening for a steel player in Glasgow.
Without trying to sound negative I really wonder if there is room for a seven piece band here.
The Opry, which is supposed to be the flagship for Country in Scotland appear to be booking two piece Bands[i]on Fridays.
I have just heard of another two pubs (which had live music) closing.
I wish the new band the best of luck.

Hey Rittenbilly How’s it going?
How right you are on the numbers thing goodness the Drovers got replaced by… ‘A Gay DJ’ back in the old days never mind now!
Though I didn’t really discuss the bands intentions I feel they are more looking to 'concert that club'. (Strange I was just having this chat with Davie Holland last night)
There are not many venues that would pay for the line up however the Texas and Deacon Blue 'sized' outfits still exist so I guess having a go at a ‘New Country’ based one is not unreasonable. They are certainly be crowd pullers in the US so I guess there is potential here when you see the names on the likes of this http://www.tartanheartfestival.co.uk/ I guess live music in numbers still exists.

Bob
I am doing fine and so are the Zum and the Ritt.
With all due respect I never did think as Texas and Deacon Blue as country bands.
I was not aware of the beauly festival and it certainly does not look like "Country" to Me.
http://www.nncmc.co.uk/Files/Poster11.pdf his is more of My idea of country.Shameless plug, since I am doing two sets there.
can't beat the ole timers music :)

Hi ZumrottenBilly, ...

I wasn’t associating any of them or their venues with country music only the existence of 'currently successful' larger format bands.

Off North eh! I envy you the gig but not the journey! Tell them to turn up your amp this time and enjoy!!! :guitar:
